The Siasconset Union Chapel was built in 1883 as an ecumenical “House of Worship” and has hosted Protestant and Roman Catholic services for many years since. The Chapel is at the heart of the 'Sconset community. It is the meeting place for prayer, song, message, marriage, contemplation and a place for annual renewal and resumption of friendships.
The ‘Sconset Chapel property consists of the Chapel building, a parsonage, the community green and the memorial gardens with our Columbarium. In 2007, the Massachusetts Historical Commission granted an historic preservation restriction to the Chapel ensuring that it will remain as is for years to come.
Outreach Report
There is nothing like good neighbors. When I was sick with COVID, my neighbor went out of her way to bring me my favorite cup of coffee each day. Sometimes her husband would get into the act, driving her to COMPASS several blocks away and back. Now that my neighbor is going through a health crisis of her own, I am trying to think of ways to make her days more cheerful. My neighbor began this circle of giving, which permeates our block in Georgetown, making it so very special.
Nantucket, as an island, is very much like that. We all depend on each other for friendship, for support, for services that beautify our island, educate, entertain us, and make Nantucket singular in its appeal. We also strive to give back.

Our daily approach to life is influenced and framed by many things. We take in local and world news by print or viewing. We connect to family life by conversation, social media, and by time focused on family, such as a vacation together.
Our faith also informs our life through scripture, prayer, other reading, and community reflection. Hymns and anthems also help us to think theologically. One of my favorite Easter hymns, Now the Green Blade Riseth, connects Jesus’ resurrection to our emotional healing, where we rise to new or renewed life.
